You're standing at the gates to Buckingham Palace.
As you probably know, this is where the Queen lives much of the time. In fact, she also spends a lot of time at Windsor Castle, which will be added to VR London soon.
The Royal Family Website is well worth a visit.
It's easy to walk over to Westminster and Big Ben from here, or look at the former home of the Princess of Wales, Kensington Palace.

I love your site! My husband, son and I visited London last year and we loved it. Thank you for keeping our London memories alive. from catwill2000@aol.com, USA - 30 Jun 2000

My family and I visited the palace in August of 1997and 98. Both times we toured the castle and watched the changing of the guards. I have tons of wonderful pictures of the palace and the surounding area. Being able as American to actually be in the castle was one of the highlights of my life. To this day my visits inside the castle are dream like and not at all real. I loved every minute. It was a feeling like I was walking in history. Thank you who ever you are that gives people like my sister and daughter and myself the unbelieveable chance to see the inside of the palace. The long walk through the long galery with the famous paintings was indescrible. In my whole life I never thought I would ever get an opportunity to see world famous paintings by the Artists that hang in the long gallery. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. God Bless you all from gardengirl61@hotmail.com, Corunna Michigan,USA - 3 Aug 2000

I was lucky to finally get to visit London early this year and I fell in love with it! I was only there for 3 whole days and I doubt I can afford to return, so I was so elated that I found your site because it brings a 3rd dimension to the photos I already have, and a better perspective of the surroundings. I can also tell my friends: "See that? We walked from that direction, stood right there, and continued on down that street. from Anita, usa - 10 Dec 2002

Buckingham Palace will never be the same once Camilla enters into the royal family. The royal family are now considered to be weak and not in touch with the people. The majority of people have voiced opposition to the forthcoming marriage between Charles and Camilla but are being ignored by the queen, courtiers, and the palace officials. Charles should do the decent thing and relinquish his right to the throne. I cant bear to even look at Camilla on the television let alone on the palace balcony. William and Harry have all my sympathy in having to endure this woman around them. from kathytoppina@hotmail.com, United Kingdom - 8 Mar 2005

Someone wrote about Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, on this website. I think it is odd for anyone to > speak like that about someone they don't even know. Diana would have been > remarried now and in her forties had she not so tragically have died. Some > people thought that Charles should not marry the woman he has always loved. > I wonder if those people would like to be unhappy all their lives just > because of the whims of some of the general public who are very misguided > and just live on what the media feeds them. William and Harry adore > Camilla and their thoughts matter more than yours. > > Diana herself had come to terms with the Camilla situation several years > before she died - even saying that she was surprised Charles had not yet > made an honest woman of her. > > What more do you want? > > There are some strange spiteful people still around but they are dwindling > and will continue to do so. I have been to London 5 times in the past 2 years. I absolutely love the city! The website is a wonderful reminder! I can not wait to return there for university in the fall! from Rachel, 18, r_aileen87@yahoo.com, New York, USA - 10 May 2005

I am knew to your web site and found it to be a delite. It is so beautiful there. My ancestory is from the UK, I had hoped to travel to London before the end of my lie. When I viewed your VRL I felt emotional.Something not felt before. I felt that this was once my home. A home I loved deeeply, greatly missed, and needed to return to before my death in this life. I felt such bliss, and a feeling that I had come from a strong and long line of ancestors there. That this is where I should be,want to be, and need to be. I felt love, peace, and tranquility as I viewed Kinsington Palace. Diana and I are the same age, our birth dates close, and lived similar lives with the exception that I have been in the United States. There is something about Windsor Castle and its location. I feel as if I lived there before, long, long ago. A strong intense feeling of a blood line connection between myself and England was felt. So strongly in fact that I never felt such intensity between myself and my own birthed children. I needed to return home. And as I write this to you I feel I never will. And I feel a certain type of grief and sorrow, different than my experience with any grief encounter I've felt in this life. I do feel that the people of England and the UK are so blesst to be there and to call her home. Everything about her is so very very beautiful. Possibly the closes thing to paradise on our earth. Thank you so very, very, much for allowing me to see her again and for shareing her beauty and majestry with an old friend, and the world. Thank you so very much! from Elisabeth Marie Ashley, USA - 18 Aug 2005
